Care Guide For Box & Varieties.
We recommend the use of Empathy Rootgrow in preparation for planting trees and shrubs. It is a mycorrhizal fungi powder which is sprinkled into the planting hole to encourage strong growth and resistance to drought.
Watering: Water regularly which means at least twice a week in dry times.
Clipping: Clip the plant to keep the shape with clean sharp shears. This should be done before there is too much growth as it will be harder to reshape the plant.
Clipping should be done in the growing season, from May and no later than the end of September.
Feeding: Feed the topiary plant every month during the summer with a good quality evergreen food such as Empathy Evergreen food which is for sale from our nursery.
Pests and Diseases Box (Buxus sempervirens and varieties). There are several diseases and numerous pests which may impact the Box in your garden and we refer you to the RHS site for added information: https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice
Planters: Box is a very forgiving plant and does well in most situations but like us it needs water and food. If you have you topiary plants in pots or containers be aware that they can easily outgrow the size of planter. If the plant is looking yellow/orange this usually means it just need some care and attention. Try increasing the watering and feeding to see if the plant will recover.
